“In the busy pace of health care, it is difficult to find a space to reflect on your work and renew your energy level. The art studio and access to art supplies provided a safe space to breathe, relax, and create. I have entered that special place — very uncertain of what I would find there. Bonnie’s presence makes that space welcoming to the creative spirit. I found a place where I could get in touch with my spirit, my inner child and my sense of community with my colleagues.

It refueled my energy and passion for my nursing practice.

I really feel it gave me some time to ‘care’ for myself, so I could be more helpful to my patients. I have read numerous research studies that show that working with the arts can be related to an improved health status, including decreasing the need for medications and treatments. I feel I have experienced a health benefit by being able to participate in art. The minute I start to work on a project, or even just enter Bonnie’s studio — I feel my blood pressure go down! It is a safe calming experience that continues to renew my spirit.”
