“I was in the art pilot group for cancer patients through the Allan Blair Cancer Centre. Artist Bonnie Chapman brought a oneness to the group and our art process with her special gifts of gentle, supportive inspiration, talent, and dedication, and guided relaxations for which she truly has a gift in her voice. Ideas have unfolded . . . months have gone by. Bonds are established that are difficult to explain . . . self-awareness, discovery and fellowship. We understand without words the reason we have come together, and also why we may have to let go of each other. I see the people I have met flourishing through their art. Because of our illnesses, we were looking for something to spark us out of, or towards something.
The sadness is part of life, as are friendships, new experiences, and hopefully, personal growth and learning. We are happy to be here.”
